Black anodized aluminium
Matte black anodized aluminium forms the chassis sides of every ML1. It is the quiet foundation shared by all finishes.
ML1 is assembled, finished and checked at the pace a precise object requires — not the pace of mass production.
Four editions. One shared chassis. Each finish is a distinct material answer to the same question: what should this object feel like in the room before it is ever touched?

A natural wood veneer top plate gives ML1 Wood its warmer presence, with each surface carrying its own grain.
A high-gloss black top plate creates the architectural base for silver or gold detailing.
A crystal-set top finish, available by private request as the most material expression of ML1.
Each ML1 passes through the same five stages — in the same order, at the same standard. There is no shortcut built into the process because the process is part of what makes ML1 what it is.
No batch calibration. No rushed finish work. The pace is set by the object, not the schedule.
Every component — chassis, tonearm, levitation system and control board — is checked individually before assembly begins. Finish, tolerance and alignment are confirmed before the first connection is made.
The levitation system, drive assembly, tonearm and chassis come together by hand. Alignment is checked as the object takes shape.
After assembly, the platter is brought to operating height. Stability is checked under load and the levitation zone is confirmed.
Reflective markers are applied beneath the platter and rotation is measured under controlled conditions. Speed is checked at both 33⅓ and 45 RPM.
The finish is reviewed under directed light. Edges, seams and surface transitions are inspected before the unit proceeds to packaging.
Reflective markers are applied beneath the platter. Rotation is measured. Speed accuracy is confirmed at 33⅓ and 45 RPM. The result is recorded.
This is not a quality control step that happens at the end of production. It is part of what ML1 is: an object individually calibrated on every unit.
The way an object is made is not separate from what the object is. For ML1, the method of assembly is inseparable from the product itself.
365 ML1 units per year across all editions is a decision about pace. Production is set by the care each unit requires — not by the number of orders waiting.
The way ML1 is built is inseparable from what ML1 is. An object assembled by hand, checked individually and calibrated on every unit is a different object from one that is not.
Every ML1 is calibrated — not inspected against a simple pass/fail threshold. The distinction matters because calibration confirms that each unit performs as the object was designed to perform.
From the front edge to the tonearm pivot, every visible surface on ML1 has been considered as part of one continuous object. Nothing is decorative. Nothing is incidental.
The floating platter is visible before a record is placed. The levitation is the first thing a visitor sees. The object was shaped around that fact.
All four editions share the same hand-assembled chassis, the same levitation system and the same calibration process. The material finish is the only difference — and it is immediate.

365 ML1 units per year across all editions. This is not a limited edition announcement — it is the annual production pace of a workshop that makes each ML1 by hand.
When the annual allocation is reserved, the next units move into the following year. There is no expedited version of ML1 — only the pace of careful assembly.
